5 days. 50 miles. Over 6,000 feet of elevation climbed. Rain and gnats. Sore feet, sore shoulders, sore back. Times where each Scout thought they couldn’t do it, but pushed through, so often with the help of the other Scouts.

Also, a newfound love of Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely?”. Sharing food and treats. Feeling crazy tired going into a break, and then climbing up to see a tower at the top of a hill anyway. Meeting snakes and turtles and a blue heron. Comparing notes on backpacking meals. Rumors of a new album of backpacking themed songs coming out soon. Hiking pole light saber battles and storm trooper trash bag rain gear. Beautiful sunrise and breathtaking views. So many dogs to pet. Many, many, many rock puns. Memories that will last forever

Could not be prouder of all five of the Scouts who completed the 50 miler this year! You guys are amazing!

Thank you Dan and Matt for adventuring with the Scouts and to Martin for helping with transportation (and for the history tour on our last leg of the trek)!
