Joseph Schaffer, 81, of Berlin, NJ went home to be with the LORD on September 3, 2011. He was reunited with his beloved wife Marlene (nee Biemuller). Devoted father of Joanne Vaccaro (Paul) and Judy Longo (Ron). Dear brother of Caroline Nickerson, Annamay Evangelisti (Jim), Floss McDowell (Richard), sister in law Cathy Schaffer and the late Jack Schaffer and the late Phyllis and Bernie Miller. Proud grandfather of Kimberly Davis, Jeanene Beck (John), Paul Vaccaro, Stacey Key (Richard) and Kelly Longo. Great grandfather of Taylor Marlene Davis and Mason Beck. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and his Marine Corps brothers Bill Blackburn (Betty), Dick Griffith (Norma), Ed Zielinski (Jeane) and the late Vic Fox and his wife Sandy.
Joe was a Marine Corps Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Berlin VFW Post 6253, active in the Marine Corps League and leader of Boy Scout Troop 48 Berlin, NJ. Devoted to his faith Joe was a longtime member of the Holy Communion Lutheran Church.
