Troop 48 will be holding our first quarantine event next weekend, Friday April 24 to Sunday April 26th – a trash cleanup! Scouts and a family member (or take the whole family if you’d like) should pick an area near them that needs some trash to be cleaned up. As schedule and weather allows, go out that weekend and help clean up, whether it’s for 15 minutes or 2 hours.
This doesn’t have to be a park (please abide by park closures – all county parks including Berlin Park are currently closed, as are all all parks in Gibbsboro including Blueberry Hill), but can be a stretch of sidewalk, a bit of woods in your neighborhood, or another area that could use some help in or near your neighborhood.
While we do this because “A Scout is helpful” and “A Scout is clean”, nearly every rank has a requirement for service hours that this can also count toward.
Please have either yourself or your Scout let me know if they participate that weekend , how many helpers they have from your family, and how much time is spent (the nearest 15 minutes is fine, don’t worry about using a stopwatch to get it to the nearest minute) so that I can add it to their service hours record on Scoutbook.
Scouts should NOT plan to meet up with each other to work together to clean up unless they live in the same household.
Happy Scouting!
